There is not a simple answer to the above question. Each student will bring their own experiences, training, certifications and prior education with them. The best way to explain the cost of an AIU education is to give several examples based on the tuition and fee schedule below.

EXAMPLE #1

Arnold applies for admission to the undergraduate program and pays the $80 application fee. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) with 4 years experience in information technology.

He receives 60 credits for his Microsoft certification via the two portfolo courses at a cost of $510. Arnold is required to take 60 credit hours to complete his B.S. degree at a cost of $5100 over the next 18 months.

Arnold pays $5610 in tuition, $80 application fee and his graduation fee is $100. Arnold earns his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems for a total of $5790.

EXAMPLE #2

Ben applies for admission and pays the $80 application fee. He has completed 6 months of Radiation Control Technician Training from Shawnee Environmental Services, Inc.. Since AIU has an articulation agreement with SES his program transfers in toto at no cost and is worth 60 credit hours.

Ben is required to take 60 more credit hours to complete his B.S. degree at a cost of $5100. This will include his General Education requirement. He is working a lot at his job so he takes 24 months to complete his courses. Since he pays as he goes he only pays $255 a month over the next 20 months.

Ben pays $5100 in tuition, $80 application fee and his graduation fee is $100. Ben earns his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Technology for a total of $5280 plus the cost of his program through Shawnee Environmental Services, Inc..

EXAMPLE #3

Carrie applies for admission and pays the $80 application fee. She was a Sonar Technician in the US Navy for 8 years. She has completed 24 credits in general education from various colleges while on active duty. She has started her own business and would like to earn a B.S. in business.

Carrie's prior college transfers in at no cost. She receives 60 credits for her military schools and experience via the two portfolo courses at a cost of $510. Carrie is required to take 36 credit hours from AIU to complete her degree at a cost of $3060.

Carrie cannot afford to take classes as fast as she would like since she is also trying to fund her new business. She takes just one class every 8 weeks. She pays $255 every two months for 15 months. This fit comfortably into her budget and she was able to complete her degree in less than 18 months. She completes her program of study and pays $100 for her graduation. Carrie earns her Bachelor of Science in Business for a total of $3750.
